Soda and Fast Food Companies List Calorie Counts
McDonald’s was the first fast-food restaurant to start listing the calorie and fat count on their menus. Now, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Snapple are set to do the same thing. The cities of Chicago and San Antonio, Texas will be the first to have vending machines which will list the calories and offer a message to buy lower calorie beverage. The city of New York recently banned the sale of sugary drinks over 16 ounces in their effort to reduce adult obesity. Soda companies counter that they are making smaller bottles of drinks and offering more low calories and no calories drinks in vending machines. It is all a matter of personal choice. Americans have always had the right to choose what they want to eat and drink. It is a good thing to know what the calorie and fat count is on the beverages we drink and the food we eat.
